The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), registered the domain freedom.gov on 26 January 2026.

Research has revealed that the main reason for launching this online portal is to challenge the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA).

The frame published on the 'Coming Soon' page states: 'Information is power. Reclaim your right to free expression. Get ready.' This project is led by Undersecretary Sarah Rogers. According to Reuters, which conducted the research, it will include tools to mask user location (VPN) in order to bypass the EU Digital Services Act (DSA).

It is clear that the Trump administration intends to flood the EU with alternative facts, hate, shit, propaganda and political interference in the internal affairs of EU member states. Fortunately, EU law prevents this. EU law protects people from being brainwashed by Donald Trump and his administration's lies presented as truth.

freedom.gov is an affront to allies, namely Great Britain and the EU. Such behaviour is normally expected from enemies, which the US administration is effectively declaring itself to be.

The go-live of freedom.gov was planned to be announced at the Munich Security Conference, but has been postponed. Perhaps this was caused by Friedrich Merz's clear speech at the MSC. He claimed:

Freedom of speech here ends where the words spoken are directed against human dignity and our basic law.

And, bringing it to a point:
"The battle of cultures of MAGA in the US   is not ours."

In a sense, Europe faces a dual challenge: on the one hand, there is Putin's Russia; on the other, there is Trump, his administration, and the 'MAGA' movement. We have to respond clearly, effectively and confrontatively if necessary.
